Regular Acupuncture treatments are a wonderful way to relax & take care of yourself during pregnancy. As well as regular Acupuncture I also offer specific Pre & Post Natal Acupuncture.
This is a relaxing and effective system of treatment to prepare your body & mind for birth and then to help you regain your strength afterwards.
These treatments are given weekly from 37 weeks gestation. Using points mainly on the lower legs and sometimes on the back, these treatments will help to gently prepare and strengthen your body, get your baby into the optimal position for birth and support your hips and back throughout this time. Acupuncture can also be used to induce an overdue baby and to turn a breech or posterior baby.
Acupuncture can be used for all manner of conditions. It is easy for me to add in extra points to address those end of pregnancy niggles that can take the enjoyment out of these last special weeks, like insomnia, heartburn and anxiety.
After birth, post natal treatments help to warm, strengthen and replenish your vital energy. This will help to give you the best start to your parenting journey. Many expectant parents are so focussed on birth that they forget that how they take care of themselves in the immediate post natal period is absolutely essential to the whole family’s health and well being.
Acupuncture can be an enormous help and support at this time and treatments usually start at 10 - 14 days following birth. Treatment helps to ensure that problems and disharmony don’t develop following birth which could otherwise lead to you feeling depleted and exhausted further down the line, once the initial newborn phase has passed. Any anxiety and emotional ups and downs can be addressed at this time and lifestyle & dietary advice tailored to your constitutional type is also given.
Working with expectant parents and new families has always been a passion of mine and I was a birth and post natal Doula for many years. Acupuncture for pregnancy and new parenthood has a very special place in my heart and practice.
